A Little Bit of Lust

GENRE: Romantic, Women's Fiction

BLURB:
Love-cynical
Lucy Bernard delights in her independence. Baking, all things Instagram, the
occasional fling, and most of all hanging out with best friends Deon Goldbloom
and Phoebe Karis. But when Deon kisses Lucy at the beach on a chilly afternoon,
the two friends jump into a lust-filled romantic weekend. So what’s with
slotting her into "ignore" status afterward? Too embarrassed to
confide in Phoebe, she silently buries the humiliation.
Deon Goldbloom is a
widower who can’t move on after his wife's death. Is he a little crazy spending
a sexy few days with Lucy and calling it the best time he’s had in four years?
Yeah. Except blue Monday comes calling, and Deon isn’t ready for the guilt.
Lucy wonders how a
smoochy weekend turns into a friends-with-benefits disaster. And Deon wonders
if he’s made the biggest mistake of his life. Using all his nerdy charms, he
launches a campaign to bring Lucy around. Maybe they can chart a course back to
one another if Lucy will only forgive him.

EXCERPT:
“Blimey,” Lucy said out loud to the dressing room walls,
channeling Eliza Doolittle. She turned her back and grinned over her pink
shoulder. Then her best Queen Elizabeth right out of The Crown. “Philip? What
do you reckon?”
She slipped on the dress, clingy in all the right places.
“How is it?” Deon called from outside the dressing room.
“Sashay on out here.” She burst through the swinging door and twirled in front
of him gripping the pink top in her hand.
“I love them both.” She felt her excitement transfer to
Deon.
“Then take them both.” He stared approvingly, broke into a
smile when she caught him.
“Thanks, I will.” Which to wear on my Marcus date?
“Just don’t wear––” His eyes clouded. “Never mind.”
“What?”
He didn’t finish his thought, gazed past her. “It’s perfect.
Take it.” He slid closer and hugged her, right there in the middle of the missy
department. “You…look great.”
“Thanks.” She inhaled the familiar scent of Deon, soap and
that unidentifiable man smell, a tad rattled by Deon’s obvious enjoyment of the
mall experience. She usually needed a tractor to get him anywhere near a mall.
What was with all the…enthusiasm?
“You hungry? I could eat a whole goat.”
“Starving. Please, no goats.” Lame.
“And we’ve got to deliver your cheesecakes. Let’s go to
Branford for dinner.”
“Fine. We can see if Phoebe is free when we drop off the
desserts.” Lucy headed into the dressing room.
“No. Just the two of us,” Deon called.
